Miletos project

A typical Miletos project will go as follows:

• first, enter the properties of your mail server, these properties will be used when sending email alerts:
  - select the Properties tab.
  - fill in the address of your mail server and the fromadddress and subject fields.
  - send a test email.
  - if ok, press the apply button.
  
• add the machines which events you wish to trap:
  - in the Machines tab of Miletos, add the machines of your choise.
  - Miletos has to run under a account that gives administrator access to those machines.
  - in the Events tab of Miletos the trapped events will be collected.
  
• after collecting events for some time, exclude the types you are not interested in:
  - select the Events tab.
  - select the Exclusions tab.
  - in Trapped events, select a type you wish to exclude.
  - of the selected event type, select the properties that have to match for exclusion by checking the corresponding check boxes.
  - click the Exclude button.
  
• setup email alerts for the event types of your choise:
  - select the Events tab.
  - select the Alerts tab.
  - in Trapped events, select a type you wish to setup email alerts for.
  - select the properties that have to match for sending an email alert.
  - fill in the mail address box.
  - press the Alert button.
